Bloomsburg Gets By Cleveland State in Wrestling

CLEVELAND, OH--The Bloomsburg University wrestling team rallied from a 6-0 deficit to post an 18-13 win over Cleveland State Saturday in an Eastern Wrestling League matchup.

Starting the match at 149 pounds the Huskies dropped the first two bouts to fall behind 6-0. Bloomsburg, though, came back and got wins from Ricky Schmelyn (New Oxford/Bermuda Springs), Andrew Jordan (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) and Nate Shirk (Middleburg/Middleburg) to go in 9-6. After the Vikings picked up a major decision at 197, Bloomsburg got wins from Mike Spaid (Perkiomenville/Boyertown), Mike Sees (Northumberland/Shikellamy) and Ricky Donald (Millville/Bloomsburg) to grab an insurmountable 18-10 lead with one bout remaining.

The Huskies, 10-7, 3-1 in the EWL, host EWL rival Edinboro on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
